After a yearlong campaign, on 09/22/17, the Loretto Band stepped onto the field for the first time in new uniforms
After a yearlong campaign that started in January 2017 to raise $20,000 and a lot of hard work and help from the community, the band achieved their goal, replacing their old uniforms of 13 years with new ones. On 9/22/17, they stepped out on the field for the first time in their new uniforms.
Loretto Band Director Darrell Boston inducted into the American School Band Directors Association
Congratulations to Loretto High School Band Director, Darrell Boston for being inducted into membership of the American School Band Directors Association on Tuesday, June 20 at the Region V Conference. ASBDA is the ONLY national music organization dedicated exclusively to the prosperity of the concert band programs in the public and private K-12 schools across America. Membership is a call to service for those individuals most passionate about improving concert band programs in our nation’s schools. ASBDA membership is a recognition of a band director’s work as a music educator by their peers, and conferred accordingly. A candidate for membership must be nominated by a current ASBDA member as well as supporting letters of reference written by other members, all who have heard and seen the nominee’s band and its quality.
On Friday, April 28, 2017, The Loretto Band performed at the 2017 Tennessee Music Educators Association’s State Concert Festival on the campus of Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee.
The band performed for some of the top music educators in the world such as Mr. Hal Cooper, Director of Bands (retired), Arkansas Tech University, Dr. Damon Talley, Director of Bands, Louisiana State University, Dr. Emily Threinen, Director of Bands, University of Minnesota, and Dr. Nicholas Williams, Associate Director of Wind Studies University of North Texas. In the past 7 years the Loretto High School Band has performed five times at the TMEA State Concert Festival and this was the fourth consecutive year for the band to perform.
Loretto Band Director recognized for TMEA 25 year Service Award.
On 4/6/17, Loretto Band Director Darrell Boston was recognized by the Tennessee Music Education Association (TMEA) for 25 plus service and outstanding contribution to the advancement of music education.
Loretto Winter Guard takes Bronze at SCGC Championship
On April 1st, 2017, the Loretto Winter Guard competed in the SCGC Championship held at Western Kentucky University and took Bronze medals in the Scholastic Regional Class AA.

March 8, 2017 The Loretto Band performed at the 78th Annual Middle Tennessee School Band and Orchestra Association’s Concert and Sight Reading Performance Assessment at Middle Tennessee State University.
The band received a split decision rating of excellent for their concert performance and a superior rating for their sight reading performance.

Members of the Loretto Band participate in State Honor Band Programs.
Members of The Loretto Band participate in State Honor Band programs. The guys went to the Tennessee Wind Band Conference held on campus at MTSU in Murfreesboro, and the girls attended The Festival of Winds held on the campus of Tennessee Tech in Cookeville.
The Loretto Band, Guard, and LHS Cheerleaders perform in the 63rd Annual Nashville Christmas Parade.
The Loretto Band, Color Guard, and LHS Cheerleaders performed the “Music Mile” on 12/3/16 in the 63rd Annual Nashville Christmas Parade. The group was televised by local ABC affiliate News Channel 2 Nashville WKRN. This was a grand event and special honor for the group.
The Loretto Band performs at the 2016 Grand Opening of SantaLand in Rogersville, AL.
The Loretto Band was selected to perform for the 2016 Grand Opening night of SantaLand in Rogersville, AL. The Band led the way playing Christmas Carols as the first customers entered the gates. The Color Guard took a few minutes to pose with Santa, Mrs. Claus, and the Grinch.
The Loretto Band announces selection to participate in the 63rd Annual Nashville Christmas Parade.
Due to the numerous accomplishments over the past few years, the officials with Under the Sun Productions, Inc., have invited the Loretto High School Band to perform at the 2016 Nashville Christmas Parade set for December 3, 2016 at 9:00 AM. This will be 63 years for the Nashville Christmas Parade and this year the parade will now be televised on national television. The parade will travel down the “Musical Mile”.
The Loretto Band receives donation from the Amber Dawn Jordan Foundation.
The Loretto Band received a generous donation from the Amber Dawn Jordan Foundation for assisting in their Annual ADJ Fun Day. The band helps the group by manning the entrance gates, controlling the dunking booth, and providing general information and services for guests in attendance. Great folks, fun day, great cause!
Foreign Exchange Student Receives a Special Gift from Loretto Band Director
The Loretto High School Band held a bittersweet farewell celebration for Brazilian foreign exchange student Guil Bezerra. Guil became part of the Loretto Band family during his stay. He received many gifts upon his farewell including a special one from Mr. Boston. Guil received his very own Alto Saxophone so he could continue his journey in music. “It was an honor to have Guil join our band family. What a joy it was to watch him learn to play and read music. I hope he will always remember his time here with the Loretto Band as I know we will never forget him,” says Mr. Boston. The Loretto High School Band and Band Parents would like to wish Guil all the best as he prepares to head back home to Brazil.
Loretto Band Director Receives Award of Distinction from ASBDA

On a night where the students receive most of the awards, Loretto Band Director Darrel Boston was also honored Saturday evening May 7th at the Loretto Band Banquet in a surprise visit from Mark Garey, State Chair of the American School Band Directors Association. Mr. Garey presented Mr. Boston with an Award of Distinction as he revealed that the Loretto Band was 1 of 5 high schools in the mid-state region out of 140 total to receive the highest award for superior concert performance. Mr. Garey also extended a personal invitation to Mr. Boston to also become a member of this prestigious association. New members are received by invitation only. A great evening for Mr. Boston and the Loretto Band program.
Loretto Band’s Hannah Graves signs music scholarship with UNA
Congratulations to Loretto Band’s own Hannah Graves for signing a music scholarship to attend the University of North Alabama. UNA Director of Bands, Dr. Lloyd Jones joined Mr. Boston, and parents Laura and Jeff Graves, in the Loretto Band room to sign Hannah as one of the newest members of the Pride of Dixie Band on Friday 5/6/16.
